Bureen's Advanta™ Vascular Graft Implant

Got the Advanta™ lip implant on December 10, 2001 (Yesterday as I write this), and Dr. Salzman was very pleased. He kept telling Janet (his nurse) and me "this really makes a nice lip". This was his first time using this very new, very soft implant. Like a shoestring made of marshmallow. He implanted Ultrasoftform once before, but the patient didn't give him much feedback. I guess she was satisfied or she would have said something.

There's really no link to Advanta™. They primarily make heart valve grafts. At first I thought this was in trials, but I was wrong. Apparently, since they are into other things, they just don't aggressively market this particular product.

What impressed me about the Advanta™ over the Ultrasoftform, was that the Advanta™ comes in an oval shape as well as a round shape. I believe Ultrasoftform only comes in round. I'm hoping the oval will give added fullness and more natural shape that the round cannot.

Anyway, here's a pic from the first day (above). You can see it's starting to swell.

Here they are! Nice and full and plump.

I'm very pleased with the results. Swelling is gone, of course, and this is PERMANENT! There is some numbness, but nothing that is not to be expected. That is routine and unavoidable in any type of surgery.

The only complication throughout this process, was that I had to go back twice to have the implant clipped back at the upper left corner. All other incisions (there are four in all) healed within three days. Because this is new (and I was my doctors guinea pig), we didn't know how much to use and there was two much on that side. It's fine now.

I never had an infection nor any other complications. My lips got very dry, but I used triple antibiotic ointment on them to keep the moisture in. The doctor also had me on a prophylactic prescription of Keflex.

There was a front/no makeup picture, but when I got to looking at it, I had this snarl thing going that I didn't like, so I'll add one at a later date. Probably lots of things I've forgotten as well!!
